I never planned to be a business owner. It all started with a simple conversation at work. Just two coworkers admiring unique candles on Etsy. The scents, the shapes, the aesthetic. It sparked something in me. I had this wild thought: What if I made my own?

What began as curiosity quickly became an obsession. I dove headfirst into research, testing waxes, learning “candle math,” experimenting with scent blends, and reading everything I could about how to create clean-burning, luxury candles. I bounced scent ideas off my coworker and started to imagine what this could become.

Going into summer, my work life felt heavy. I was under so much stress and desperately needed something to distract me. Candle making gave me a sense of peace and purpose. A quiet kind of joy I hadn’t felt in a long time. It became my escape and, without realizing it, my healing.

But turning a passion into a business? That was so scary. I had no roadmap. I had to figure out everything from filing an LLC to sourcing high-quality ingredients that aligned with the standards I believed in. I poured myself into every detail. By the time I officially launched Graceful Glow Candle Co. in October 2023, it felt like I was holding my heart in my hands.

Putting something so personal out into the world was scary. What if no one got it? What if this thing I built didn’t resonate?

But it did. It does.
